The world of movies today is a very glamorous and rewarding one, with A list actors and actresses being paid millions of dollars per movie to entertain us with their acting skill. But we have to ask ourselves – where would the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow, Julia Roberts, and Halle Berry or the likes of Jude Law, Bruce Willis, or Leonardo DiCaprio be without the work, style, and class of the classic movie stars that made Hollywood life as glamorous as it is today?

Hollywood stars have been an international obsession for many years. They spend their lives being chased by the paparazzi, scrutinized by the critics, and adored by the fans. They are splashed over everything from the bedroom walls of their fans to the front pages of magazines and newspapers. And they all live the life of luxury, with multimillion dollar homes all over the world, an entourage of staff and assistants, awards lining the shelves in their luxury homes, and a legacy of millions to leave to their loved ones.

Although today’s Hollywood greats – the A listers that appear in the multi-million dollar blockbuster movies – are skilled and loved all around the world, credit must be given to the true legends of Hollywood…the ones that contributed sweat, blood and tears to make Hollywood what it is today. Not just the actors, but also the producers and directors that made some of the most loved classics that have maintained their popularity through the generations and over the decades.

Where would the world of movies be today without the input of the glamorous and sexy ladies that will forever remain in the golden years of Hollywood? Legends such as Marilyn Monroe, Rita Hayworth, Greta Garbo, Vivienne Leigh, and Judy Garland. And what about the studs that adorned the big screen during Hollwood’s greatest years, with names such as Clark Gable, Humphrey Bogart, Rudolph Valentino, and Lawrence Olivier.

These days, getting into acting – particularly onto the big screen – is difficult. However, many actors have had the honor handed to them on a plate, with uncles, aunts, sister, brothers, and parents that had already broken into the world of movie acting. In Hollywood’s early years, there was no such luxury. The world of movie entertainment was still new then, and anyone that broke into acting on the big screen did so on their own merit and nobody else’s.

Many of today’s actors – and pop celebrities – model themselves on the legends of Hollywood. Madonna, for instance, appears to have convinced herself that she is the new Marilyn Monroe, despite the fact that she is primarily a singer and not an actress. Many other stars of today have fashioned themselves on the stars of yesterday, and the Hollywood legends and classic movie stars that are now long gone will never know just what a profound effect they have had on the movie industry and the superstars of today.

Many of the movies that were made in the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s remain much-loved classics even today, such as ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ with the fabulous James Stewart; ‘The Wizard of Oz’ with the incredible Judy Garland, and ‘Wuthering Heights’ with the demure Laurence Olivier. And as the movies of today come and go, forgotten after a matter of months at time, the fabulous movies made by the Hollywood greats will continue to grace our lives for many years to come.
